IMEI number introduction
International Mobile Equipment Identification Number (IMEI: International Mobile Equipment Identification Number) is a sign that distinguishes mobile equipment. It is stored in mobile equipment and can be used to monitor stolen or invalid mobile equipment.
IMEI number composition
(1) The IMEI composition is shown below, and the mobile terminal device can be found by typing "*#06#". The total length is 15 digits, and only 0-9 digits are used for each digit.
(2) The first 6 digits (TAC, Type Approval Code) represent the model assembly code, which is issued uniformly by the four global standard distribution centers of CTIA/BABT/TAF/MASI.
(3) The next 2 digits (FAC, Final Assembly Code) represent the assembly manufacturer's number.
(4) The next 6 digits (SNR, Serial Number) are the product serial numbers, which are used to distinguish each mobile device in the same TAC and FAC.
(5) The last 1 digit (SP) is a spare code.
IMEI number application allocation
The IMEI code is uniformly allocated by GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications, Global Association for Mobile Communications) and authorized BABT (British Approvals Board of Telecommunications) to be reviewed and accepted.

GSMA latest information
As of September 14, 2009, GSMA’s allocation of IMEI numbers is controlled by charging. TAF firmly opposes GSMA's decision to charge for mobile terminal TAC numbers, and is currently actively coordinating this matter with related mobile phone manufacturers and international organizations. In view of this, TAF will not issue TAC numbers on behalf of GSMA for the time being.
According to the eighth TAC/IMEI usage rules of the eighth edition of the "IMEI Audit Process Procedure Document" (TS.06 IMEI Allocation and Approval Process Version 8.0) issued by GSMA on June 9, 2015, a terminal device must have its own TAC (Each ME Model must have its own TAC). In accordance with the above requirements, the domestic TAC issuance rules are now adjusted as follows:
1. From June 22, 2015, one TAC can only correspond to one product model (model name);
2. For the TAC issued from May 1st to June 21st, 2015, if it corresponds to multiple product models and is not in use, it is allowed to edit and modify its standard and frequency band information, but cannot make any changes to other information such as product models. ;
3. For TAC issued before May 1, 2015, if it corresponds to multiple product models, no information is allowed to be changed
